Why Playing Is Important For Excellent Time Management
When it comes to properly managing your time, it is important for you to reserve time for yourself. The saying that "all work and no play made Jack a dull boy" is very true when it comes to time management.
Being able to play will give you a sense of freedom. It will reduce the amount of tension you have, and you will become rejuvenated. Being able to play is not a waste of time. In fact, making time to enjoy yourself has a large number of advantages which can actually help you save time.
When you have reserve time to play, you will have energy when you go back to work. If you work for extended periods of time without relaxation, you will begin to become tired quickly. If you don’t take the time to relax, you may experience what is called a burn out. When you have taken the time to play, you will have a creative mind that is open to new ideas. You will be able to solve problems quickly, and this will allow you to work faster. When it comes to playful activities, many people associate them with children. But adults need to play just a much as children. Though the activities we use to play may be different from those that are associated with children, they will still allow you to achieve the same goals.
Working too much can actually destroy your time management. As you continue to work, you will become dull, and you may also develop a negative attitude. Instead of seeing problems as opportunities, you will view them as being barriers which will further drain your energy. While you should want to be successful, you should not want to work yourself to the point you become sick. If this happens, you will be forced to take time away from your work. Would you rather be forced away from your work with an illness, or would you rather reserve time to play and relax?
When it comes to time management, many people today fall under one of two extremes. Either they spend too much time working, or they don’t reserve enough time for work. Either extreme can lead to failure. To manage your time properly, you must be balanced. You will need to make sure that the time you have for work is proportional to the amount of time you spend playing. Your body and mind will often tell you when you need a break. Some examples of this are when you notice you are still tired when you arrive to work in the morning even though you got eight hours of sleep, or when you feel that you are simply not interested in the work you do, even though it is something you love.
What is basically happening in this situation is that your body and mind are telling you that enough is enough. You’ve worked hard for a long period of time, and it is time for you to rest. This is one of the reasons why many countries such as Germany give their workers many weeks to rest. They do this because they know the workers will be rejuvenated when they return to work. If you are the owner of a business, learning how to reserve time to play is even more crucial. Many business people work longer hours than the typical worker who is employed with a company.
While the standard work week is 40 hours for most employees, this is not the case for people who are self employed. People who work for themselves may work longer than 60 hours in any given week. While this may be necessary, you should not forget that you are only human. While you will never want anything to come between you and the goals you want to achieve, you will want to reserve time for rest. The steps involved with reserving time for play are similar to the steps you would use for other tasks. You will want to include a time for play in your weekly schedule. Placing a time for rest in your schedule will allow you to not only rest, but will also allow you to spend time with those you love.
