When a company experience changes in its business setting, one of the first things they have to address is to get back on track and continue the business as soon as possible. Time lost during the transition into something better means potential losses with a significant number of clients.
The sooner the company gets back on track, the faster the company could post the earnings once again. It can be even more than previous earnings since the company’s change could provide more and better service to its clients. As a result, the company prospers because of modification. All it requires is for the company to adapt to these changes fast and implement operational plans as soon as possible.
Getting back on track means everyone have to be focused once more at the task at hand. During the period of transition, the employees might be preoccupied with the changes at hand that they would easily forget about their basic job tasks. This is highly understandable since during the period of transition, companies are not able to operate well. So instead of pushing its employees for productivity without any expected result, it would be better to enforce employees to work in easing transition into something better.
Enforcing focus to establish company productivity once more is in the hands of the company leaders. The supervisors, managers and anyone who has entry level employees under them has the responsibility of ensuring the company to go back on track after changes has been experienced in the company. It is only by enforcing focus that the planned changes will be tested. Although change can be observed as soon as they are implemented, they are ultimately measured by the productivity of its employees. For that reason, the leaders should be working double time so that its team members will be back to its regular responsibilities.
Focus: A Group Effort
Reestablishing focus is often a lot difficult said than done. Focus is not just a single person’s effort as focus becomes everyone’s job so that company productivity will be posted. A single person focusing on its job will never matter since everyone else will be dragging down the productivity of that single person. A single person focusing on the job will never matter either since everyone else who is also in charge of certain tasks will not be working. The output of a single person will never matter since everyone else will stop the process from completing.
As a leader, you have to monitor your group consistently. This will give you a good idea who are working well and those who do not. Ensure that everyone else is taking care of each other because it will not only be single person’s glory when everyone work’s well but is everybody’s reward.
Define Goals
The usual goal a leader would have after changes have been implemented is to get the team back on track as fast as possible. But this goal is a little bit hollow. When you lead a team you need to provide a goal that is both tangible as well as reachable. Goals should be as concrete as possible so that the entire team will know their performance in relation to their preferred goals. The goal could be qualitative or quantitative but it should be something that could be achieved by your employees. You should make sure that these goals are inculcated to every team member so that the proper implementation could be achieved without prior confusion.
Acknowledging Individual Strengths
But establishing focus is not just coming into a meeting and telling everyone to work. Remember that significant changes could be observed today that everyone is not required to do the same task. The tasks could have been changed or added in lieu of the current business revamp.
Change is the perfect time to help employees determine what they can really do. Their individual strengths should be highlighted during these times so that they could provide not just what is asked of them but something more. Value what they can offer so that you are building a very powerful team that goes beyond the assigned tasks.
Refocusing your team is more than just telling them to go back to work. Set achievable goals and value their inputs as well as additional skills to considerably improve your team in terms of additional services and continuing efficiency.
